The homeowner’s desire to customize and update their kitchen’s cabinetry, countertops, backsplash and appliances created the opportunity for T. Hurt Construction, Inc to renovate the former simple oak kitchen into one that is both sophisticated and functional.
Removing a wall that divided a walk-in pantry space to the kitchen provided the necessary room to build in the refrigerator. Tearing out the soffits and extending cabinetry to the ceiling visually enlarges the kitchen, creating clean lines where the upper cabinets meet the ceiling.
To help minimize countertop clutter, specialized storage areas were designed into built-in tall pantry cabinets for small appliances and plug-mold outlets were installed under upper cabinets. Storage space was increased by extending cabinetry to the ceiling and adding a new custom hutch. The furniture-style hutch transitions the kitchen into the eating area, and doubles as a serving buffet featuring an angled break-front with decorative fluted columns, softly curved valance, and seeded glass doors.
Rich colors and textures create an inviting atmosphere for the homeowners, whether working, dining or socializing in their new kitchen. Details such as oil-rubbed bronze fixtures, natural stone tile backsplash with mosaic insert above cook-top, granite countertops, and oak wood floors customize the remodel. New pendant light fixtures over the island and under-cabinet task lighting illuminate work surfaces. Stainless steel appliances accent and brighten the deep cherry stained birch cabinetry.
The home remodel extended beyond the kitchen area. Oak flooring replaced existing carpet in the adjoining living room, tile flooring was installed in the laundry room, and a lower level wet bar built. The skilled craftsman of T. Hurt Construction, Inc. were able to carefully remove the original oak kitchen cabinetry and recycle them for the lower level bar area.
T. Hurt Construction, Inc. achieved its goal of updating the client’s home and finishing their new custom kitchen.
